Children of Local Apartment Communities Compete in 21st Annual First Realty Management Olympiad
Boston, Mass – The First Realty Management Olympiad gets a change of venue in its 21st year, as children from 10 affordable and mixed income apartment communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island meet to compete at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Friday, August 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Teams will participate in a variety of contests, ranging from the more traditional running events to a colorful football toss and Tug of War. All the youngsters are residents of apartment communities managed by First Realty Management Corp., which manages over 6,000 apartments and condominiums in New England.
Massachusetts participants will include children from Greenwoods and Davis Commons in Brockton, Brandywyne Village in East Boston, Stony Brook Commons and Canterbury Place in Roslindale, Broadway Glen in Chelsea, Taunton Gardens in Taunton, Bay Village in Fall River, and The Fairways in Worcester. The state of Rhode Island will be represented by a team from Oxford Gardens in South Providence.
At the Olympiad, children will earn recognition for successfully completing events, will win trophies for sportsmanship, outstanding effort and team spirit, and will receive gold, silver and bronze medals for both individual and team accomplishments. A special “President’s Cup” trophy will be presented to the smaller or younger team that best embodies the spirit of Olympic achievement, but whose size and/or age rules out a highly competitive medal finish.
First Realty Management, an Accredited Management Organization (AMO)®, has been conducting activity and enrichment programs for the residents of the properties it manages for nearly 40 years. Two of the communities represented at the Olympiad, Brandywyne Village and Battles Farm Village, were named the nation’s Exemplary Family developments, one in 1999 and the other in 2002, by the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA). Davis Commons, Brockton, achieved regional and national recognition as Best Turnaround property in 2006. First Realty properties have received national awards in each of the last 3 years: in 2011 First Realty received the top award for managing the nation’s best housing for the elderly at The Meadows in Smithfield, RI; in 2012 the company won the Paragon Award from the National Apartment Association (NAA) for its management of Camelot Court Apartments in Brighton, Mass; and in 2013 the Vanguard Award from NAHMA went to Union Crossing in Lawrence, MA.
